Blowing wind, extreme temperatures, lack of private amenities and feeling of shame; these are all of the issues that homeless people endure on a daily basis. Homelessness is an issue that is on rise for many communities throughout the United States. It not only is your stereotypical person but it can be families who have come of hard times but also our veterans who have served our country. According to the National Health Care for the Homeless Council website (2016), â€Å"A homeless individual is defined as an individual who lacks housing (without regard to whether the individual is a member of a family), including an individual whose primary residence during the night is a supervised public or private facility that provides temporary living accommodations, and an individual who is a resident in a transitional housing† (para. 1). Issues caused by homelessness have many communities creating policies and ordinances for those issues that could become a future problem. Although, many policies are put into effect to try and help the homeless many of them can also hinder the oppressed population as well. My time with Cal State LA and internship is coming to end, and there are so many mixed feelings that I have. I am nervous, excited, scared, relieved, and so forth. For this quarter, my seminar class and internship have focused a lot on termination, with Cal State LA, clients, and myself. The termination process has helped me deal and cope with my mixed emotions, because it makes it easier for me to end a chapter in my life, and transition into a new one. At my internship, LAUSD had a mandatory â€Å"End of the Year† training that required all of the interns to attend. At the training, they talked about how we should set aside time for ourselves, self-care. Social work can be get very stressful in a school environment, so it is our responsibility to make time for ourselves, and recover mentally. I am definitely going to a mental break this upcoming summer. For example, I got accepted into the MSW program at USC, and I am not taking any classes this summer. I am aware th at the MSW program is very intense and rigorous, that is why I am giving myself time to just relax, and spend time with my family and friends.
